Allison, I've got a design ready for your blade belt whenever you and your friends feel like making a trip out here.

Which of these little icons did we say was the "hey friend, I need your help" bat signal?

As soon as we're back from Budapest we'll be knocking on your door.

What's up, my friend?

That's so aggressive, and I like it.

I need to know more about the traditions in this world for proposal. I know what mine are from home, but I'm reasonably sure they won't work here. And at least half of them would involve the beard that Melissa (very thankfully) doesn't have.

It just needs some obnoxious sparkling and a repetitive song.

Help?

I'm on a Les Mis kick rn, so we'll skip the music.

OK OK

Hold onto your pants.

The most traditional proposals involve a night of romance, and you go to your knee and pull out the ring and tearfully ask "Will you marry me?" after some ridiculous declaration of love.

BUT personally, I'm a pretty big fan of the non-traditional types. Slipping into something she does daily, surprising her on a mini weekend vacation at the very beginning is likely to get you laid lots. Viral wedding proposals are great but so not you. See here.

Thank you. Thank you.

See, the only problem is that being sneaky and surprising her is hard when her schedule is so difficult to work around. I may plan something only to have her called into work.

But that all makes sense.

Totally valid and something to take into consideration.

On the list of no's I'll give you now: Nothing too public, not that I think you'd do it anyway, but like, never proposal at a mall or a baseball game. At MOST, when close family and friends are around. People you're already comfortable with.

Never drop the ring in a glass of champagne. Or anything, really. No food involved. It's disaster waiting to happen.

For you two, I'd vote something quiet and sweet. Maybe at home so you don't have to worry about the scheduling thing? Or rent out a rooftop and decorate it in twinkle lights and candles and have a romantic dinner.

Maybe get her to take a weekend off and drag her to a super nice hotel room and pamper her?

You're building the girls weapons. Why am I not surprised?

I got the sense they'd find a way to get them one way or another, and I'd rather give them good ones.

Besides, I rarely get to make weapons these days.

Oh, I've never known them to not be armed. And they're better with them than the boys are, that's for sure.

A good, strong blade is a lot less dangerous than a cheaply-made one, too. As long as they know how to use it, they'll be just fine. And I'm not making one for the boys, I promise.

And you make the best, I know. I trust you.

Still. Parental worry tends to rise around sharp objects.

I understand, absolutely. At least Allison's father deals in weapons as well, so it's not foreign to her.

Ha. No, not foreign. They taught me how to use a few of the weapons back home, even.

Not mean. I don't want you arrested for a fashion statement. And the broadsword is too well-made to put magic into it.
