Who: Lux, Tauryn, Xavier and Ali. Where: The park near his house When: Early evening What: Lux is abducted
The streetlights had begun to flicker on, though the trees by the swingset kept the area darker than the rest of the park, shaded from the street as well as the light. There was a slight chill to the air as the sun fell and the wind picked up, and aside from the odd car passing by, and the soft breeze rustling the leaves in the trees, the only sound Lux could hear was the creak of the chains above his head. As he swung idly, eyes scanning the dimming light for his brother, the boy watched and waited, hoping that any second now, Xavier would pull up and walk over to him to pat his head and give him a smile.
He wasn't sure how long he would sit here waiting for Xavier, though he knew it wasn't his brother's fault he was late. Being a doctor meant being late for less important things like swinging in the park, Lux understood that, and he was fine with it. He was happy to spend his time waiting as he spent many of his evenings, pumping his short legs to propel himself faster and higher. He would rather wait here for Xavier, at home his mother and father were being quiet, occasionally talking about Danaan business that Lux wasn't allowed to listen in on. He would rather be alone here than there, at least here he could swing.
His parents had been spending more and more time like that lately, and it was confusing as well as boring. Lux wished someone would just tell him if something was going on, and why it was such a big secret. Xavier must know though, he was an adult as well, and he knew that his father spoke to him about serious things, they argued enough about him. He knew he just needed to talk to his brother and all of this mystery would be wrapped up.
