WHO: Simon and Tyler WHEN: Backdated to Wednesday, I think? WHERE: Tyler's House WHAT: The progression from neighbors to so much more RATING | WARNING/S: Relatively PG (CLOSED/COMPLETE)
Simon sat his phone down with a smile. Ty had asked him to come over and look at his sink and that was just what he needed. Not necessarily the sink, but seeing Ty. His neighbor was the only man that had caught his eye in so long, at least since the attack, and he was very much looking forward to spending any time with him that he could.
Even if it was just fixing his sink.
He threw in some comfortable clothing and grabbed his trusty tool box from beside the door and left his house, locking up after him. The dome was relatively secure, but it was a habit that he had no intentions of breaking. One thing he had learned working with young people in the education system was that you could never be too careful. And that applied to any situation in life.
He walked down his walk and then up Ty's, whistling happily as he did so. He stopped at his door and gave it a brisk nod, a grin spreading across his face at just the thought of seeing Tyler. He knew he was acting like a school boy experiencing his first crush but he didn't quite care because in truth? That was what he felt like.
---
It had taken Tyler all morning to actually get up the nerve to send Simon that text about coming to look at the sink. Even after he sent the text and Simon had agreed to come over, Tyler was nervous. Not in any bad sort of way but still..nervous. Because first of all, the sink wasn't actually broken. Not even close. The cold water handle was just a bit loose and even Tyler could easily take care of that himself. He hadn't though because it was the only thing he'd been able to think of as a way of having Simon over without seeming too obvious or too forward. So after the text, he waited, pacing a bit just inside the door, a flutter of excitement in his stomach trying to override his nerves.
When he heard the knock, Tyler took a deep breath and pushed a smile before opening the door for his extremely handsome neighbor. And just like always, Tyler felt slightly winded just looking at Simon and it took him a second to find the words to invite the older man inside. "H-hi." Tyler smiled again and held the door open wider, motioning for Simon to come inside. "Come in..And seriously, thank you so much for coming by to look at this thing. It's the kitchen sink and I just keep hearing it drip non stop.." He explained, rambling a bit as he lead Simon through to the kitchen after shutting the front door behind him.
---
Simon grinned eagerly at Tyler, shaking his head from side to side, stepping in the house. "No problem, handsome." He looked around, grinning at Tyler's house. "I don't mind a bit to come over and help you. It's not a big deal. I'm sure I can figure it out for you," he said, following him toward the kitchen. He couldn't help. It take in the view as he went because it was too much of a good opportunity to pass up.
He stopped in the kitchen and looked around. "Mind if I have a look," he asked, gesturing to the sink. "I've got my tools with me and shouldn't be nothing to fix. Something sounds loose, shouldn't be much to fix." And he hoped after he fixed the sink that maybe, just maybe, the two of them could spend some time together afterwards.
---
"Of course. Go ahead. Do whatever you need to do." Tyler made sure he was out of the way but he stayed close enough so that he could watch or help if Simon needed anything. "Can I get you a drink?" He asked after just a few beats because he'd never been one to enjoy too much quiet. He wasn't sure why or when exactly that had become a thing but it was what it was. "I have iced tea or lemonade..or water of course." He chuckled, running a hand through his hair before finally turning to grab some glasses from the cabinet and then setting them down so he could look into the fridge. "So uhm..I hope I didn't take you from anything too important." He commented, fridge door still open but he was looking over his shoulder now at Simon, his gaze trailing slowly over the other man's back. It was easy..way too easy, to get distracted looking at Simon. Tyler had to shake his head a bit to clear his thoughts as he reached in to grab the iced tea for now for himself.
---
Simon moved over the the sink and turned on the water. He noticed immediately what the problem - or lack there of - was. It wasn't really an issue, just a loose knob, so it wouldn't take any time to fix. That could either be a good or bad thing. If Tyler wasn't interested in him staying, it would be bad. If he was, then it would be very good. He pulled out a wrench and then looked over at Ty.
"Oh yeah, lemonade is cool," he said, focusing his attention back in the faucet and fixing it properly. He tightened the knob as much as he could and then answered Tyler. "No, you didn't. I wasn't doing anything. Watching old movies and laying around in my boxers and putting off grading papers. I'd much rather be over here with you," he said with a smile.
He straightened up and dusted off his hands. He turned both knobs and was satisfied that there wasn't a leak anymore. "There you go! No more drip drip dripping."
---
Tyler almost dropped his glass when Simon mentioned laying around in his boxers. Just the thought was enough to make Tyler bite his own lip. Hard. Too hard but he ignored that and tried his best not to look too flustered while he finished with the iced tea and then put it away, switching it out for the lemonade. "What uh, what movies were you watching? Anything good?" He asked, genuinely interested in anything and everything that Simon had to say. As long as they'd lived next to one another and as often as they passed each morning or evening, they still hadn't had too much time to talk or get to know each other too well yet. Tyler was hoping this little fix-it call would change that.
"Here you go." Tyler walked over to Simon, handing him his glass. "And..wow. It's fixed already? That was quick. Thank you." He chewed his lip again, looking from the sink and back to Simon. He wondered how obvious it was that he hadn't really needed Simon to fix it but he didn't ask. He just cleared his throat and pushed a smile. "Would uhm, do you want to sit down for a few minutes? I mean, unless you wanna get back to your movies and your boxers.." As soon as he said that last part, Tyler snapped his mouth shut and his face went beet red. Had he really just said that out loud? He did. "I..I mean..Not your boxers, I just meant if you wanted to go..go get comfortable again.." He shut his mouth again and turned on his heel, grabbing up his own glass and then heading into the living room. The whole place was an open concept so the kitchen and living room were only separated by an island with a few stools lined up on one side.
In the living room, Tyler turned by the over sized couch and looked over at his neighbor. "If I didn't just make a complete ass out of myself..yeah. You're more than welcomed to stay for a while if you'd like to. Maybe we could find a movie to watch together?" He asked, sounding as hopeful as he felt despite trying his best to play things cool. But then again, cool had gone out the window the moment he started talking about Simon's boxers.
---
He hadn't meant to paint any sort of mental image, but he'd asked and that was exactly what he had been doing. "Just some of the older ones," he relied in regards to the movies. "No idea about anything current because I'm a creature of habit. I basically watch the same four movies over and over again." He smiled at him, enjoying just talking to him. It was nice. He had always been interested in Tyler, but he hadn't been sure if it was returned or if he was simply just the neighbor. But judging from how the sink hadn't really been broken at all? He felt more confident than he ever had that maybe - just maybe - there might be something there.
"Yep," he said, putting the wrench back in his toolbox (he had seriously overpack for this situation) "done and done. It wasn't anything, really. But you shouldn't have that leaky problem anymore at least," he said with a smile. "No more dripping. It's all good now." He laughed at Tyler's next words, and the adorable way he reacted, and shook his head. "Little known secret, but I brought my boxers with me. So I would love to sit with you.. You don't have any other plans, do you? No need to put yourself out on my behalf."
He followed him into the living room, sipping on his lemonade. His house was basically set up the same, just decorated differently. "Yeah that sounds fun, though be prepared for me to not really know anything new. But that's exciting because I can discover it with you, yeah?" Dear Lord, please let this amazing man want to sit with me and maybe cuddle he thought silently to himself as he settled on the couch, waiting.
---
Tyler blushed even harder when Simon made the comment about having brought his boxers with him because..well, of course he had and Tyler felt like an even bigger dork for saying what he had earlier. He tried his best to play that off though and decided to respond to Simon asking if he had other plans instead. "No. No plans..I uh, I tend to stick around the house if I'm not working or if my friends aren't around. Omega.." He held up his hand to show Simon his mark even though he knew Simon was well aware of his status. The mark though.. Tyler still wasn't completely sure of what it meant for him in the biosphere but growing up, he'd always been told that for some reason unknown to him, it meant that he was special. Rare. To Tyler he just felt what he assumed everyone felt..Normal. But having been brought up to play things safe, to make sure he never put himself into situations where something could happen.. That was fully ingrained in him. So homebody he was but not by choice.
When Simon sat down, Tyler did as well and without thinking/over thinking, he may have sat down a bit closer to Simon than just a 'friendly' distance. "Honestly, we can watch whatever you wanna put on. I like older movies too so maybe we can find one of the ones you like? Here." Tyler shifted, setting his drink down and then reaching for the remote to hand to Simon. "Find whatever you want. Or just hit the voice command..I have a pretty good selection of stuff..A lot of music too if you just wanna listen to something and talk..maybe, uh, get to know each other a little better?" He knew he probably sounded like a fool and he kept wanting to kick himself but he pushed on, stumbling over his words because seriously..being this close to Simon was bringing back that mix of nerves and butterflies in his stomach that he had to admit, felt pretty awesome and scary at the same time. The effect the older Beta was having on Tyler was harder to hide than he'd expected but he tried regardless.
---
Simon grinned when Tyler showed him his mark. "Omega for sure," he said, resisting the urge to reach out and touch his mark. It was beautiful on him. His status fit him perfectly. He had always been taught to respect Omegas. They were pure and gentle and everything about Tyler was pure and gentle. "Special. That's what you are." He raised his own risk and displayed his own mark. "Now, Betas? We're ordinary. Typical. So being in the presence of such a special Omega." And he meant that sincerely. He felt extremely lucky to be with Tyler.
"Music?" He said, taking the remote and accessing the options. "I like that idea. Talking and getting to know you better. That's what I want to do. I want to just talk, it's a real shame that we don't know each other better, Ty. I want to change that," he finished, scotching just a bit closer still, wanting to be able to take all of Ty in that he could. He started some music, low and quiet, and took another sip of his drink. "Forgive me if I'm flustered, Ty. I can't seem to help it. You're...why, you're gorgeous."
---
"I don't feel special. I mean, I don't know what I'm supposed to feel like. I just feel like..me. Normal? Whatever normal is.." Tyler looked at Simon's mark and unlike Simon who'd held back, Tyler didn't. Even with the remote in Simon's hand, Tyler still reached out, trailing his long, thin fingers over the spot before drawing back once he realized what he was doing. "Sorry." He felt the heat rise in his cheeks again and he cleared his throat quietly. "And you know darn well, you're far from ordinary..I mean, just..yeah." There was no way Simon wasn't aware of how attractive he was and the effect he had on the people around him. Especially on Tyler.
So when Simon decided on music and talking, Tyler couldn't help smiling. He listened to Simon talk and watched as the other man scooted closer. He hardly heard the music. This was literally the closest he'd been to anyone in ages. And someone he was actually attracted to? Even longer. "I? Me? No..I'm just..not." Tyler shook his head, his gaze dropping at the compliment because it had been equally long since he'd gotten one of those. "You know.." Tyler chuckled softly when he finally found his voice again and he managed to look up. "If you haven't noticed, I've been pretty tongue tied myself. And I kind of have something to confess.." He started, biting his lip a little before going on. "I could've tightened that handle myself..It was just an excuse to have you over.."
---
"You're special," he said, nodding his head decisively. "You might not feel it, but you are." He had never been more sure of anything. He could tell how special and wonderful that Tyler was, despite his own uncertainty. When Tyler reached out and touched his mark, his eyes zeroed in in the movement, and it was probably the most pleasurable touch he had ever experienced. "Don't be," he murmured, not dropping his hand, "that made me feel quite special myself." He smiled warmly at his next words, resisting the urge to bring him closer that washed over him. "Thank you, Ty. Your words mean quite a lot to me."
He shook his head in disbelief at Tyler refusal. "You most certainly are gorgeous. I happen to find you incredibly attractive. Why, everything about you is appealing and attractive." All of this was said wth a very matter of fact tone, one that Simon often adopted with his students when they had trouble grasping facts. Simon watched as Tyler seemed to struggle to find what to say next, but he couldn't help the grin from forming on his face at the other man biting his lip. "Firstly, that's very distracting when you bite your lip like that. It makes me quite jealous that I'm not the one doing it. And secondly, I kind of figured that was the case but I'm glad because I want to be here. Next time, though, just invite me over. I'all jump at the chance."
---
It was crazy to Tyler thinking that Simon really did find him attractive. The older man could easily have anyone he wanted. Simon was strong, handsome, smart..Tyler swallowed softly, his gaze dropping to Simon's lips for a second or two before he looked up again at those beautiful, ever changing eyes. And this. This was the confusing part about being an Omega..Tyler knew how he was supposed to act. How he was expected to act..But that was never quite what he wanted to do. Sit and wait. Be patient. Wait for a strong Alpha or a strong Beta to choose him, to make all the first moves. Waiting. Sucked. And he'd already done so much of it and Simon was so close and so handsome..
"I probably shouldn't do this..but I.." Tyler started, cutting himself off as he shifted closer and leaned in, pressing a kiss to Simon's lips. He knew he shouldn't have. He really did know that. Tyler had pushed the Omega limits before in small ways but he'd NEVER done anything like this before. Kissing a Beta first..Kissing anyone first. But there was just something so appealing about Simon, something that drew Tyler in and made him want things. A friend but more than that. A lover maybe? Even more than that possibly. Someday.
When Tyler drew back, his eyes were wide and he opened his mouth to talk, to say anything but nothing came out. Not at first. Again the heat in his cheeks rose up and he knew he had to have been bright red. He stammered a little before clearing his throat and apologizing. "Oh my god..Simon. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have done that." He really shouldn't have. There were rules and roles and some people were strict about following both. And as long as he'd lived next to Simon, it was still true that they didn't know each other that well. For all Tyler did know, Simon might be one of those people who followed status protocol, the rules, the pre-determined roles..An Omega being so bold as to kiss a Beta was definitely NOT following anyone's idea of pre-determined roles.
---
What most people didn't know was that Simon had been marked Beta, but it had shown him when he was fifteen that it wasn't an easy decision. His wrist had flashed with the omega symbol before changing to that of Beta. It was as if it was indecisive, but had settled for Beta in the end. It was a closely guarded secret, one he didn't share readily. So, while he was a Beta, he was more muted and close to being an Omega, unlike many other Beta's who displayed more Alpha dominant traits.
When Simon heard what Tyler was saying, he was confused for a moment and then he felt the Omega's lips on his and he lost his train of thought and only had one thing on his mind and that was Tyler. He leaned into him and poured himself into the kiss. God this felt incrediable. A small part of him reveled against it, but that was the trained Beta part that always wanted to make the first move. His pride would recover, especially considering the lips on his.
When it was over he was breathy and panting. "Don't," he said. "Don't apologize. Screw you being an Omega and the rules. I'm a Beta and I don't give a damn," he said, leaning in again and capturing his lips again. He ran his hand over the couch and did end up tugging him closer this time. He finally pulled back, bending to rest his forehead on the Omega's. "Don't you dare say you shouldn't have done that. Do it again and again."
---
All of the nervousness Tyler had been feeling vanished when Simon kissed him back like that. And when the Beta told him not to apologize, gave him permission basically to kiss him again..That was all Tyler needed. He smiled as he was pulled closer to Simon and he shifted, moving so that he was straddling the older mans lap while their foreheads rested against one anothers. "So if I did this.." Tyler started, a sly smirk curling his lips before he pressed them against Simon's again. "..this is okay?" He asked when he drew back, his hands on Simon's broad shoulders, rubbing slowly and then trailing down over muscular biceps. "I hope you don't think this is why I asked you over.." He wanted to make that part clear. Of course it had been on his mind but it hadn't been the main reason..What Tyler wanted, was to get to know the Beta he'd been pining for since moving next door to him. And this..this was a great way to get to know Simon. Talking..Kissing..Tyler couldn't have been happier with how the day was playing out.
---
Simon shifted along with Tyler, moving his body along with the younger man's so that he could successfully straddle him. Talk about being put into heaven, that': exactly the way that Simon felt. When Tyler kissed him again, he pushed into the kiss, deepening it, wanting to taste Tyler and to commit that taste to his memory. "That is most definitely okay," he said while little jolts of electricity shot all over his body as Tyler ran his hands down his arms.
He shook his head, which wa shilarious as his forehead was connected to tylers, and then pecked at his lips again. "I know. No explanation needed. I know it isn't. But I'm not going to say it isn't the best turn of events I can imagine," he said grinning.
---
Tyler brought a hand up to touch Simon's face and he trailed his fingers along the older mans jaw, scratching lightly at his beard. He'd been wanting to do that ever since he'd first met Simon. It fit the older mans face perfectly. It was always so neat and perfectly trimmed. Tyler often wondered what it would look like if Simon went a few days without keeping it so neat. Tyler bit his own lip lightly just thinking about it. He could imagine how glorious it would be to see a full, unruly beard covering Simon's perfect jaw. "Are you okay with me sitting on you like this?" He ended up asking to get himself back on track while holding Simon's gaze. Tyler was thin but he was tall(6'2") and more solid than he appeared. He didn't want to make Simon uncomfortable with his long legs tucked up against Simon's sides the way they were. The couch was over-sized which was a good thing, something Tyler hadn't expected would come in handy in quite such a way when he'd picked it out. "I can move if you need me to." He offered but made no attempt to actually get up just yet.
---
That was enough to cause his eyes to flutter closed, feeling how good it felt to have Tyler scratch his beard like that. He liked the way his hands felt there, how it made everything seem a little rougher. He hummed in appreciated, but quickly opened his eyes when Tyler asked if he was okay. "If you tried to move I would hold you down and not let you," he said with a grin, mostly joking. Mostly being the key word. "I want you to stay put," he said, reaching up and tapping at Tyler's chin with his fingertip. "You fit there perfectly," he finished, not caring that Tyler's height made him fold up the way he was. He didn't want him to move.
"If it was up to me, I'd keep you right there all day," he said. "You feel way too good for me to want you anywhere else."
---
"Oh really? You wouldn't want me anywhere else?" Tyler asked, feeling playful and sounding coy while he chuckled at his own question. He really had no idea where this sudden boldness was coming from. Maybe it came from the fact that Simon made him feel attractive, wanted, giddy almost with a sense of feeling so comfortable with the other man already. Tyler leaned in for another kiss after that, letting this one linger as he wrapped his arms loosely around Simon's shoulders and set one hand on the back of the Beta's head. He carded his fingers through the short, soft hairs there and deepened the kiss, all the while hoping he wouldn't at some point, push too far or overstep some boundary he wasn't aware of. He kept ignoring the nagging little voice in the back of his head that kept telling him he was being inappropriate..That Omega's weren't supposed to be so forward..But Simon didn't seem to mind so far and Tyler didn't want to stop. Of course he would if he had to..He would if Simon seemed uncomfortable or unhappy with him in any way but he was hoping, really hoping that that wouldn't be the case. Tyler wanted more than anything for someone to accept him for who he was. And who Tyler was, was a strong Omega with a mind of his own instead of someone who liked to sit back and well..wait for the world to happen around them.
---
Simon felt a growl rise up in his chest and he leaned in to nip at Tyler's lips, smiling wickedly. "Well," he said while he placed a hand gently on Tyler's stomach, "I can think of a few other places I would like to have you right now." Tyler was too damn tempting. Not that he was upset about if, hell no! He was excited about it! "Damn, you are so handsome," he murmured, running his hand through Ty's hair gently.
He didn't give a damn about traditional omega roles. Or traditional beta roles. You became who you were for a reason; there were no mistakes. So if Ty was a strong willed and independent Omega? He was meant to be that way. "You're literally perfect, did you know? The perfect Omega."
