Bijou Fan-Works

I had some trouble drawing Jade, since he is very complex and I've never attempted a character like him. I needed an expression that showed off his eyes, and I didn't want to use color, hence:

Hi. New here. This is my first impression of Garnet after reading the first few pieces. Just a quick (2 hr) sketch. Work safe.

Okay, and it's not what she asked for, but it went something like this:

ME: Okay, so Cobalt, you put your foot on Jade and wrap the leash around your hand... Jade, stop looking like you're enjoying this so much. Okay, now move your hand a little, no, wait. Okay this pose isn't working. Alright, let's try with Jade in the cowboy suit, and Cobalt, you-
COBALT: Sod this. Am I getting paid? I don't think so.
*Cobalt walks off*
ME:Okay, so Jade, you take the hat off, right, and -no, wait, you're supposed to look happy now, not the puppy dog eyes, no, I'm sure Cobalt will be back soon, no no no come back!
*Jade follows Cobalt*
*Is miserable, so starts a sketch to cheer self up*
ME: Hey, this is working pretty well!

So yeah. We have Jasper sunbathing, in all his glory. Merry Christmas!

So, a little while ago, Laylah offered up Christmas gift-drabbles. I offered to draw her something in return, she requested Jet and Topaz, and suggested I post it here.

I don't know where this idea came from or why it worked in the least, but I'm not arguing with it.

I love mythology stuff. Absolutely love it. Something about the details of the Green Lady in the last fic grabbed me, and insisted that I rig something up, so here she is. I'd like to stress that she's my version only--I sincerely doubt that she looks anything like laylah intended. :D

1) Mercenaries: There is a reason I don't usually draw manly men; also known as oh god I don't ever want to draw that much leather again. And, Wow, there's so much wrong with this piece. I almost didn't post it. ( Fox and Hound )

2)Jasper: Laylah mentioned wanting the boys in elaborate costumes. That's totally my justification for these next two, and they have nothing whatsoever to do with finishing the above piece and really wanting to draw boys in makeup. Also, somehow I got it into my head that jasper didn't grow out his hair until he came to the bijou, which is- on looking again- not in fact the case. Um. I suck? ( Elaborate Costuming, Take 1 )

3)Jet:I, uh. I have no justification for the visual lit-reference here. I just am a dork and couldn't help myself. I like this one best of the three. ( Elaborate Costuming, take 2 )

So after a discussion about Moulin Rouge meets Bijou these happened...

Taking inspiration from Toulouse Lautrec's printed posters I decided to leave the colour flat (and it's definitely not because this is where my colouring skills end ^^;).
