Various ships encountered in the game. [Under construction]
Serenity is a 'mid-bulk’ transport, standard radion-accelerator core, classcode 03-K64, "Firefly" ship. Captain Malcolm Reynolds' Firefly Class vessel, was named after the battle of Serenity Valley. Serenity has no mandatory registration markings on the bow, suggesting that she's not entirely legal. But she's a durable and dependable space vessel, Kaylee sees to that.
The 03-Model Firefly was the last version of the Firefly design to make it to production. It featured a number of improvements over the earlier models, notably the extenders on the 'wings' of the ship to separate the rotating VTOL-style ion jets further from the main body of the craft. Which both keep the ship from shaking as much and allowed for two shuttle bays to be built into the new design. Also, the 03 version of the Firefly is notably longer, with an extended 'neck', longer body, and generally roomier interior. It still uses the reliable Trace Compression Block engine; however there is no shoddy Gurtsler in a Firefly. There are 40,000 Firefly class vessels still in use. The Firefly class has some ceramic parts in her.

Thanks Abby for finding these!
Lorrayna Phoenix is classified and registered as a salvage ship. However, she is twice as large as any ship of its kind, and in fact operates like none other either. Her original design was the vision of a one Lula Marrs and Kara Mohan-Jadamoore. Lula Marrs lived on Paquin, coming from a family of pilots and engineers she started a design of a ship that would be the lightest, fastest, and most battle ready ship in the Verse. The design didn’t take full shape until she meet Kara Mohan-Jadamoore. Coming closer from the core, the girl had acquired selective knowledge on the latest technology being used mostly by Alliance military. Lula never asked where it came from, although she never really needed to.
The ship was built at a secret location in an underground facility, the same faculty that produced many craft during the War for the independents. The metal that was used to construct the ship was harder to wield together because of the strength of it, so this was what took the majority of the time. Lorrayna Phoenix was finished two years after the conceptual designs had been finished. Very little of the ships origin is known, except the names of the engineers and where she was first registered, that of course being Paquin.
The ship now is in the possession of Emerald Storm, the captain. No knowledge of the engineers is on file, in fact as already mentioned very little is known about the ship. Other than she operates mostly on the Rim, traveling to the Core only to sell things ‘acquired’ or ‘salvaged’ by her crew. No first officer is listed, however those that have worked on the ship know that Q. Hawks and M. Walker both act as such, no one being entirely sure which of the young ladies actually is second in charge and which is third. Once hired on, you’re kept one until one of two things happens. You screw up and get your self killed, or you screw up and leak information about the ship or crew and then Emerald Storm tracks you down and kills you. She’d give her life for her shipmates, but you mutiny against her and you’ll be wishing the Alliance was after you.
Plenty of rumors float about concerning the crew of Lorrayna Phoenix, some saying they are some kind of New age pirate ship. Others say they’re just folks trying to make it in the Verse. But those on board, might agree with the first. They take what they want, when they want and they have the weapon power to do so. Heavy weapons on private ships are outlawed, but those are just one of the many secrets that are hiding within her haul. She does take real jobs occasionally, and anyone who does business with her Captain knows the job will get done, even if somebody has to get killed in order to do so. She doesn’t think of herself as a common thief or murderer, just a commended person. She doesn’t hold sides, Alliance, Browncoats… they’re all the same. All just Folk.
