BIG BANG BLACKOUT: PLOT BUNNY DROP OFF
ONE WEEK IN

Just over one week into sign-ups and we're getting steady sign-ups from authors, artists and betas. We're also pleased to see people discussing the challenge and promoting it in their own LJs, communities and newsletters.

For authors participating in the challenge, one of our clever mods has programmed up a Word Count Widget, which you can use to show how you're progressing with your fic. Like so:

500 / 20000 words. 3% done!

It's linked to from our Resources Page, which also links to other useful web pages for people participating in the challenge. Go check it out! And if you have any suggestions for things we could add to it, let us know.

With that out of the way, moving on to the main point of this post:

PLOT BUNNY DROP OFF [ON LJ/ON IJ]

One of the things we've seen a couple of people bring up in these discussions is the following:

A Big Bang for Sirius? I soooooooo want to participate! But I can't think of a plot/story idea for a >20K word fic!

Being the benevolent mods we are, and wanting to maximise participation in the challenge, we're opening up this post for you (yes you, reading this right now) to drop off your plot bunnies to be adopted by one of our putative authors in [info]bigbangblackout's PLOT BUNNY DROP OFF.

A couple of guidelines for those contributing the bunnies:

  1. The point of this post is for you to suggest a story idea for someone to work up into a fic. "Someone should write Sirius/Lily!!" doesn't really help a Sirius/Lily shipper who's trying to come up with a plot. "I want to see a Sirius Black/Lily Potter where Lily cheats on James with Sirius and Sirius goes to Azkaban eaten up with guilt and not knowing whether he or James is Harry's father" is a bit more helpful.

  2. This is not a fest or an exchange. You are suggesting plot ideas in order to inspire (potential) BBB-authors, not filling out a request for a fic to which you are entitled. So you while you might suggest the Sirius Black/Lily Potter plot above, an author is perfectly entitled to take the same idea but write it as Sirius Black/Alice Longbottom.

  3. This should go without saying, but just in case -- do NOT bash, mock or wank about someone's story idea.

  4. Do NOT bash, mock or wank about the author who took your Sirius Black/Lily Potter idea and wrote it as Sirius Black/Alice Longbottom. Remember guideline (2) -- you are suggesting ideas to help out authors in search of inspiration, and NOT filling out a request for a fic to which you are entitled.

  5. You don't have to comment anonymously, but you can if you like.

And speaking of anonymity. All BBB-authors and potential BBB-authors -- remember the anonymity thing we keep harping on about? This means we hope we won't see any comments from you along the lines of "A Sirius/Teddy/Lucius threesome after Teddy Time-Turners back to a Death Eater Orgy being held in Voldemort's honour?! That's a fantastic idea -- I'm totally writing that, yay!" in response to one of the suggested bunnies.
