Who: Laila and Legolas Where: Near the palace When: Early morning What: Homecoming Rating: PG Status: Complete
Laila had been gone for five weeks, maybe more, by the time she reached the far end of the elf path through Mirkwood and caught sight of the borders of her Father’s kingdom. Frustrated with the distinct lack of adventure in her life, the little elf had taken off in the early hours of the morning, with her standard note stating that she would return. But, as usual, exactly when was anyone’s guess. Though she rarely kept track of how long she was gone, she knew that her Father was diligent about it, so she’d hear precisely how many days she had been missing soon enough.
Slowing her horse Melima with a soft breath of air from her lips, Laila tipped her head back and let out a sigh, enjoying her last moments of solitary freedom before one of the guards - or worse, her brother - spotted her. Her mind ran over the fun and mischief she’d left in her wake, of her time in Lake Town and her solitary trek through the Southern part of Mirkwood. It had not been a trip without a little danger, and though she was effectively unscathed, there were one or two scabbing wounds littering her arms, and one on her forehead. All in all, it had been a quite profitable trip. Next time, I think I shall go to Rohan, she thought with a lazy smile. She had always wanted to see the lands there, and to meet the horsemen that lived in them. Or maybe the Shire, though she knew it would take more than a sweet face to be allowed to cross the Misty Mountains alone without a host of elves close on her tail.
Dismounting, Laila slowed her progress even further, clinging to the silence for as long as she could. However, it wasn’t much further down the path that a familiar figure stepped silently into view, blocking her way. She let out a little sigh and gave a smile, quickly brushing her bangs down to cover the scab on her forehead. “Mae Govannen, tór!” she said brightly, hoping to somehow make him forget how long she had been gone.
