The rest of the ride is riding on you. [Nico]

Like a lot of other students at the school, King had really needed this vacation. It felt wonderful to be unchained from the classroom for a change, and the knowledge that Xavier's and all of its problems were hundreds of miles away was certainly a weight off of his shoulders, but he loved the privacy as well. He didn't feel hemmed in by all the other students and residents, more like all of them were existing in their own little adjacent bubbles on the island. Instead of feeding the gossip mill, he could do whatever he pleased here and no one was paying close enough attention to say anything -- yet, at least. Nico's brothers were too busy relaxing to keep a very close eye on their little brother and Prince wasn't about to bother him when he knew what was going on, so their time together hadn't had its usual edge of impermanence. No watching the clock or keeping an eye on the door. It was such a huge relief. He'd had a while to get used to the idea that expecting to feel like an ordinary, normal couple was probably a pipe dream, but for once it was actually true. Not that he was going to say anything about it -- no need to make Nico uncomfortable -- but inside, he acknowledged that this was a particularly special time and place.

He'd said it in his entry: he had everything he wanted here. Going back was going to be a really hard adjustment.

Luckily for them both, no one had to go anywhere until tomorrow. There was a little time left. It was still earlyish, getting close to sunset. Later on, they had a dinner to go to, a kind of final farewell bash thrown by Warren to end the last night on an appropriately wild note. The room they'd chosen had a pretty spectacular view of the sky for sunsets, however, and there was no place King would rather be before the dinner. He stopped by the bar on the way back to his room when Nico called him, tucking a couple bottles of water under one arm, and walked barefoot down the path to their villa with light steps. There was no key to their front door. Nice to be trusting, wasn't it? Letting himself in, King looked around with a smile as he brushed the sand off the soles of his feet. He didn't know what Nico wanted him back for, but chances were good that it could involve curling up to watch the sun set with a liberal side of kissing, so he couldn't help but feel good about being there. Besides. The place and the guy waiting for him were both pretty fantastic. What more could he even ask for?

What an unnecessarily long month. Being responsible was not something he was looking forward to when he had been moving to New York. Instead Bry had been planning on spending as much time with his baby sister as possible, next to doing a few tech classes and enjoying the night life. But such was not the case. Here he was, taking full length college courses, barely seeing Vea but for maybe fifteen minute intervals, and...when had he last been to a club? He couldn't remember. Plus now he kind of had a girlfriend whom he had also slightly neglected with his business. His father, of course, was ecstatic about it.

"Keep at it, filho. That way you can finish quicker and move back home!"

But was he moving back? He did not think so. Not at this point. There was too much going on for him here. What kind of person would he be to pack up and leave it all behind? He gave a dragging sigh when the answer popped into his head. An irresponsible one...Goddammit! Why did he care? New York was a place where everyone wanted to be. He was here, and the opportunities to slack off had slipped when he decided to attend an Ivy League school. Wasn't the plan to take a couple of business courses? When did he decide to make things worse for himself by caring about his future? What kind of man was he?

Apparently he had covered the bases enough that he was now on his way to becoming a lawyer. Ugh, he hated lawyers. Every lawyer his father had introduced him too had been a slimy bastard of a man. Or even of a woman. When did he decide that was the path for him?

Brian really could use a distraction. Staying in his room was, surprisingly, not doing much for his peace of mind. But that is where he was. He turned his radio on softly as he laid back on his bed. Not too much going on here. He actually had five minutes to think and he was spending it alone. What a loser he was being. Ignoring the fact that he had a good pile of homework staring at him from a nearby binder, he covered his brow with his forearm and took deep breaths. No going back now, right? Might as well sulk.
