Let it never be said that Xavier's couldn't throw a party when it wanted to. Maybe it was because of the general terrible things that tended to happen when least (and most) expected, and the school felt that the students deserved some kind of break from the stress of that and dances. If the punch wasn't guarded terribly closely for alcohol, if the chaperones weren't exactly diligent about making sure students and residents weren't sneaking off to do God-knows-what in God-knows-where, well. It was earned, in some way. It wasn't that no safety precautions were taken. X-Men and X-Factor members were required to be there on alternating shifts throughout the night and into the morning, although enough time was placed in between each shift that the members could go out and have their own Valentine's fun.
Tickets were free for those in residence, and so were the photography bundles that would be mailed out later -- because yes, they'd actually hired a real photographer to take pictures of the couples that were there (who had also needed to sign several forms saying that any injuries and such that happened whilst on the premises were not the fault of the school or the students and residents therein. The Danger Room was the site for the dance this time rather than the gym, possibly because it could be expanded further, but most likely because if something did happen, then the majority of the school would be in the safest place already.
It didn't look like the Danger Room, though. It had been programmed in to look like some kind of a grand ballroom with an open ceiling, like they were all at Hogwarts or something. Of course it was a bright, starry, pleasantly warm night inside the room, though. Pink, white, and red balloons and streamers were still around, lest the people there take it too seriously, and there was glitter of the same colors scattered over the floor a bit; every now and then, more blew out from an unseen fan. A buffet table was set up to the side, the aforementioned punch sitting in the center in a fountain-bowl. There was a chocolate fountain as well, and an assortment of red, white, and pink candies and fruits set out, along with a Valentine's cake. Music was played over the speakers in the room, although Ali had been asked to perform as well. All in all, it was a great Valentine's Day night. Assuming nothing terrible happened to ruin it.
(Open to all! Feel free to tag in :D. Thread will last through tomorrow morning!)
