A part of him knew he'd lost his friends when he decided to become an Auror, but that didn't mean hearing his last name used like that felt any better. He had hoped Higgs would have learned to trust him somewhat now that they'd picked up contact again, but in the end it was quite clear that he was just an Auror - if one they could all pretend to be friends with when he wasn't doing his job.
He didn't even try to hide the disappointment when Higgs distanced himself like that. Maybe it was the hangover, maybe just that he was tired of it all, but instead of hiding his reaction he just turned his gaze to the floor.
'Whatever,' he said tiredly, reminding himself that at least Percy and Susan trusted him. Even if they seemed to be the only ones. 'I should probably go before I outstay my welcome, if I haven't allready.'
He got up, wincing a bit at the pain before he turned back, meeting Higgs' gaze steadily. 'I really don't give a crap, Higgs. I never did.'
