RP: In the Office

Terry looked at the piles of notes on his desk, and sighed. He was extremely tired, hadn't slept well at all the previous night, and he'd been up well before the sun this morning. Working was good though. Working meant he didn't have to think about Seamus, or wonder why it seemed that the other wizard hadn't even been able to touch him when they'd showered together. Thinking about reasons why that would happen weren't at all pleasant.
He'd gone straight to his office after showering, bypassing breakfast all together, and had gotten in three straight hours of work before Ben had woken. He had his lesson plans for the following week sorted, papers marked, and been able to do a bit of research on the Fidelius spell using some of the new books he'd gotten for Christmas. The books from the Bletchley library were specifically useful, and he spared a moment to smile at the irony of that.
He'd spent the morning with Ben, playing with his pirate ship and men, until two Ravenclaw sixth year Prefects came and asked if they could have Ben for the afternoon, for a rousing snowball fight with some of the younger year students. Ben had bounced around excitedly until Terry gave in, making the students promise to that one of them would be with him at all times. He'd called Dobby and asked him to keep an eye on things, something the House Elf was more than glad to do.
After Ben had gone, bundled up warmly for the cold air outside, Terry had headed back to his office to start on the rest of his work. The Auror project was first, and after reviewing his notes he decided that he was ready to being enchanting the 'waterfall' charm on the building. He'd head there after classes on Tuesday to do that, and use the time to see if Percy could help him procure a Muggle metal detector. It was the one thing he hadn't been able to land his hands. He'd found a Gargoyle that would suit in an abandoned wing of Hogwarts, and had started the preliminary Charms on that, but was at a loss how to find a metal detector. Hopefully Percy would have some ideas, or could get Tiberius Ogden to find one.
He spent the next hours refining the spells on the Gargoyle, and worked straight through until a charm went off that told him Ben had returned home. Terry tidied his papers, arranging them in order of importance and by subject, and then locked his office and headed back to get Ben ready for dinner. He was mentally and physically exhausted from performing the charms, but that was good. It meant he was too tired to think about Seamus still, and Terry pushed all thoughts of that aside as he spent the evening with his son.
Ben was overly excited from his afternoon with the 'big kids', and was sound asleep before seven o'clock in the evening. Terry debated going back to his workroom, but when he found he couldn't even move from the couch, decided that an evening of rest wouldn't hurt anything. Maybe he was even exhausted enough to sleep. He didn't bother even trying to go to his room, simply lay down on the couch and closed his eyes, wishing himself into sleep.
