Cho had been sitting at her desk on her second shift of the day. The benefit ball had raised plenty of money, but until more aurors could be found, and trained, the work was still piling up. One of the aurors had called in sick that day, so she had very little choice but to do the shift.
At first she just scratched the pendant that was around her neck, thinking it was a random itch. It kept on thrumming against her skin, and that's when she realised she was being summoned. The Remorseless Dragon was being summoned.
The part of her that had been aching for some true action was suddenly raging to life, even as she tried to locate the other end of the spell. It seemed faint, but she was sure it was coming from the general direction of Northern Europe.
Begging off her shift early, she raced home. Putting on her robes and mask, she cast a spell to determine which coin was being activated. She thought it was better to be forewarned about who she was meeting. She was surprised to find it was one she gave to Terence Higgs. What was he doing there? Who on earth did he need to have assassinated?
Hopping on her broom, she sent back a quick spell through her pendant to let Terence know she was on her way. Shooting off past the town, she stopped in a field well past the apparition barriers. Holding the pendant warm against her hand, she focussed on the coin. The special spells that had been infused into her summoning coins would allow her to port key directly to it.
Feeling the tug behind her navel, she travelled for only a moment. It wasn't her best landing, as she must have struck something on the way, her hip connecting with something blunt as she fell in a heap on the floor. Letting out a curse, she looked around to find herself in a dingy bedroom. Looking over to the bed, she saw Higgs lying there.
"Higgs," she said, poking him. "Wake up." She was going to be pretty annoyed if he called her there under a false alarm.
