Severus,
I was hoping I could use your skill in Leglimancy to help a young lady with a sever memory problem. She's had a modified memory charm cast on her, that has severely affected both her long and short term memories. According to both the victim herself, her friends and the Healers, there are days she can remember everything, and days she remembers nothing, and days in between. I've been asked to help reverse the Charm, but I was wondering if first we shouldn't try Leglimancy to see if that can help unravel anything. I understand if between your students and Faustus you don't have much time, and I'm certain I can help her without Leglimancy. Let me know if you can be of service.
Yours,
Terry
Dear Ms Capper,
Hello, I'm Terry Boot. Cassius Vaisey asked if I could help you recover your memory. As he's told me about your condition, and how some days you can't remember your name, I'm including a letter from him to me, as well as a letter you wrote to the Healers giving me access to your medical records, just so you don't worry I'm some sort of nutter. You are, of course, welcome to check with Cass before replying to the owl. I want you to feel safe talking with me, I am of the belief that the more trust there is, the better the results will be.
I find myself very intrigued by your condition, and I believe I can help. I've owled an associate to see if Leglimancy would be the way to start, but I've already started making notes on charms and spells that could help. It's entirely possible though that no known spell can get your memories back, so I may have to create something entirely new. I'm very good at that, and I've included my credentials as well. Memory is a very fragile medium to work with, but I can promise nothing will get worse.
I'd like to start with a preliminary consult, and was wondering which would be more comfortable for you: my coming to your home, or your coming to my office at Hogwarts. I understand you're living for the moment with Miles Bletchley? Our sons are friends, so it would be no trouble for me to come to you. Just let me know which you prefer, and we can set up a time. Weekends are most likely best, as I teach Charms at Hogwarts and my weekdays are taken up with students.
Regards,
Terry A. Boot
