Ginny hadn't really wanted to go the ball after Neville had proposed, but she knew she had to. Percy would hold it forever against her in the form of paperwork if she didn't. And Ginny hated paperwork. Loathed it, in fact, and wanted to avoid any unnecessary paper cuts.
The ring fit perfectly on her finger, heavy and there, and she was already thinking of ways to keep it with her even while on duty where it could be a liability. She was sure she could find some sort of special pocket she could sew--or rather, have someone else sew--into her robes.
"I wish we could have stayed home," she whispered as the Aurors on duty checked them thoroughly before letting them through. "We could have celebrated properly." She placed her hand on his arm, her ring glittering against the black of his dress robes. The necklace he'd given her lay warm and heavy around her neck, perfectly complimenting the dress. "We'll stay just long enough to make Percy happy, and then we can go home."
