Susan was tired after a long day back. Of course none of her work (other than Rosmerta's case) had been touched during her suspension, so she had a week's work to do during the day.
She had managed to avoid Percy for most of the day, and hoped to get a chance to talk to Ron later. He'd obviously been through the Three Broomsticks, and she would have liked to see if he found anything new. Fresh eyes were always good.
Distracted for a time by her security duties on the door, she smiled when the headmistress arrived. For a split second, she thought about letting the woman through without a check, but there were no exceptions. McGonagall seemed pleased that she wasn't being singled out for anything, and gave her an encouraging smile.
But now her stint at the door was over, and she had a chance to 'mingle'. That was the last thing she wanted to do right now, but she nursed a glass of wine, smiling at the occasional person and listening to an ancient wizard who regaled her with stories of her aunt.
It was going to be a very long evening, if it ever ended.
