Millicent smiled at the little boy in Daphne's arms as she came down, shaking her head at her apologies.
'It's really not you that I'm upset at,' she said softly. 'Miles...he keeps putting himself ahead of everyone else, and it messes with Liam's head. That's the part I can't stand. That he's so irresponsible with Liam. That boy has been through enough this past year.'
She smiled, not sure she made any sense. 'Nigel is too young to know what's going on, he doesn't know, it doesn't effect him. But Liam...he wants to know, he asks questions, and when Miles just leaves the paper out like that...'
He looked at Daphne. 'I didn't know what it was when the kids asked me to read it!' she said almost as if she was defending herself. 'I thought it was a note from Miles, and read the first sentence out before even noticing what it was.'
'And they would have figured out what it was anyway, if I hadn't answered what a contract was their teacher would have tomorrow. Miles is as good at secrets as a boggart is at playing nice.'
