Scarlett was worried. Miles hadn't been home last night - not so uncommon seeing as he stayed in Hogsmeade with Liam - but with the Auror coming around yesterday and no word from him, it was enough to make her fret. Her head was hurting too after straining her memory yesterday, trying to force the memories to come back sooner rather than later.
She couldn't be responsible for Miles being put away for life. She couldn't even bear the thought of being responsible for it.
When Cass's letter came, she opened it immediately, ignoring most of the stuff about the idiotic Auror in favour for new of Miles and getting nothing much. Well, that just wouldn't do. Picking up her quill, she found some new parchment and wrote back.
Dear Cass,
I'm not that concerned about Bones right now. I'll deal with her when I have the time but do chastise her in my absence, won't you? She turned up unannounced, didn't even show her badge to me and then started to pass judgement on what I'd been doing even if she didn't say anything. The jibe at my memory was just the last straw!
Percy Weasley. I don't care if he's a Weasley or a fucking saint, I'll deal with him. If he's not a people person then he better learn to be as one of his Aurors is certainly following by example.
Why would I have a receipt? It was a present so if anything, Miles would have a receipt. I still can't remember anything, well, I can remember fucking on a bridge but I think that was from another trip, not from wherever we went last Friday.
This weekend? You promise Miles will be out by then, yes? I can't go out thinking of him being in a cell all because of my inability to remember anything. Do you not have a Legilimens in your office who can find the memory for me?
