Brushing the hair out of her eyes, Daphne looked over the rest of the toys, wondering what Nigel would like when he got older. "I wanted my own place," she said. "I wasn't about to live in something that was his, so I sold it, and bought what I have now. I'm not much of a working girl, you can imagine, so I couldn't be spending all of what he left me. I have to make it last for awhile."
She was not about to leave herself in another bad situation. She knew better now.
