Her giggles was contagious and he giggled himself. 'Well I trust your taste completely, and if the world had any sense they'd let you buy them everything,' he said with a laugh.
He shook his head as she went on. 'No, I like my job. I could never push papers in some office all day. I need the investigations, the excitement, the not sitting still at my desk all day.' He lifted his hand and ran it through her hair.
'It's ok, we're friends, I get to tease him until he blushes and tells me he ought to fire me and that will be enough until he changes his mind.' He stroked her hair and cheek, then tilted her head up so that he could lean down and kiss her. 'We should have just chosen each other. How perfect wouldn't that be?' he said with a smirk. 'We could have brilliant sex with each other as well as sex with lots of other people, then come back and tell each other about it - or better yet, have them join us.'
'Really we would be the perfect couple. Why do we go around making things difficult for ourselves?'
