Rosmerta was still fuming with anger at the mere thought of Miles keeping Liam away from her, more so in fact than when she'd left the room. With every breath, every pacing step, she felt her anger flare up. As if she would ever do anything to put that boy in danger! And why were people so utterly stupid as to believe everything the ministry did and said? What did they really know of vampires at all?
Nothing! Absolutely nothing!
Huffing, she watched as Sparks arrived and guided Liam downstairs to the playroom, and she turned to look in the full length mirror, trying not to think that it might be the last time she saw the boy. But then Miles spoke again and it was impossible to keep her anger in check any longer. She'd kept from screaming for Liam's sake but now he was not there any more and she turned to glare at Miles.
'The ministry consists of fools and you seem to be one too, Miles Bletchley!' she snapped. 'Vampires are constantly being mistreated because people like yourself will not see their true nature. How many vampires do you know? How many have you sat down and talked to? How many have you seen feed? How many have you even seen apart from the one your manor nearly killed?' she continued, her voice going from snappy to loud the more she spoke.
'You don't even know Jander and already you're judging him, for something he has no control over. I already told you that he wouldn't feed off a child, or kill a human he did feed off. If so he would have fed off me a long time ago - as would Sanguini - and neither of them ever misused my trust! That's more than I can say of most people!' she added, crossing her arms before her chest and ignoring the way the cat ran and hid underneath the bed or Aerope hooted in her cage.
