"I intend to," she assured. "I would not keep eet." It seems awful~! It crossed her mind that, despite Jander being one of Dennis's only remaining friends, Dennis was not asking very much about him at all. If Gabrielle were in the vampire's shoes, she probably would be begging to see her old acquaintance. There had to be a reason...
"Oui, I weel not reject you," she replied, unable to hide a tiny shake in her voice. The promise felt more like a bargain for her life than a sign of friendship. She had to keep telling herself This is Dennis. They laughed together and shared muffins and sweets. She was not in danger. She was not.
At being called a good person, she could only smile as she felt she was supposed to, but at the request regarding Colin, she felt disapproval. "Den-ees, I really zink zat you should-" she paused, reconsidering arguing with a vampire. "Fine. You must swear you weel go to 'im soon, zough. I cannot 'ide you for vairy long."
Gabrielle sighed heavily when she was given permission to leave. She was not going to die tonight. The girl felt like thanking him, but she had no idea what she would be thanking him for aside from the sparing of her life... and that would be cruel. He was so sad as it was, he did not need to know outright how much she wanted to leave him there. Regardless, it was the first time she felt safer without an escort. "Bonsoir," she quickly said.
She walked at first, looking back every few steps to make sure nothing was following her. The moment she figured she was out of Dennis's sight, she broke into a frantic run, and did not stop until reaching Fleur's door.
She needed an excuse for her lateness. It would be easy enough to tell Fleur that her sister's mind had just wandered (it often did), and her date with her notebook took her into the night, and she was soooo sorry.
Only then did Gabrielle realize that she had dropped and forgotten something terribly, terribly important. "Ah non!!!!"
