Dennis was still wondering what Jander was up to, and how fortune had meant they had both run into Gabrielle. "Do you?" he said, wondering how he could use this information. "You should probably wait until you see him again. Give it back."
He gave Gabrielle an innocent and hopeful smile. "I never asked for this, Gabrielle, and so many of my friends... well," I killed them "I don't want to think about them now. I'm just glad you'll talk to me."
"Yes, there are some good people. The woman who has let me have her cellar... and Jander. And now, you."
"But please, don't tell my brother you've seen me just yet. I'll... I want to meet him on my own terms. Please?"
