Cormac's stomach was a bundle of knots as he arranged the last of the furniture he'd picked out for the house. There wasn't much, just a sturdy living room set (that would hold up to dogs and kids for many years he hoped), a king-sized bed for his and Colin's room, and one for Seamus too, a canopy bed with pink linens for Emma, and a large table with six chairs for the dining room. He hadn't wanted to pick out too many items without Colin, Seamus and Emma, and had only gotten enough to make the house start to look like a home.
The pieces were all completely returnable as well, if they decided they didn't suit. He'd gone to one of the shops Adrian had suggested and, much to his chagrin, once they'd learned he was Tiberius Ogden's nephew they'd fallen over backwards to please him. He wasn't above taking advantage of that, however distasteful he found it, and now had an unlimited line of credit with the shop, and all their affiliates, so furnishing an entire house plus Seamus' flat wasn't going to be any trouble.
Along with the furniture he'd strung up lights and balloons and set the large cake he'd had made in London in the center of the table, the candles charmed to keep from melting. For the final, somewhat corny touch, he'd conjured a large red bow and strung it across the top stairs, and charmed confetti and streamers to rain down over the banister. He felt a little ridiuclous at how excited he was for Colin's birthday, especially when he remembered what an ass he'd been on his own, but he couldn't help it. He wanted Colin's day to be perfect.
He glanced down at his wrist watch, and felt his stomach jump when he saw that it was almost time for Seamus to arrive wiht Colin and Emma. He charmed off all the lights, and stumbled his way to the couch, where he dropped into the cushions, and waited.
