RP: Trying to make sense of things
Date: January 24, 2006 Characters: Scarlett Capper, Verity Montague, the Cappers Location: Bletchley Manor, sky Private/Public: Private Rating: General Warnings: Summary: Scarlett apologises to Verity and finally writes to her family.
Scarlett felt just terrible. She’d been to the Healers again, they’d told her that her scar looked less inflamed but they hadn’t been able to tell anything from her notebook. When she hollered at them to actually do something about it, they had told her that it would take a lot longer than a week to notice any sort of pattern.
Scarlett sort of wanted to stamp her foot at them.
Upon getting home, she decided to send some owls so she could hopefully calm down. She still felt dreadful about revealing to Verity that she’d slept with her husband and she knew she needed to apologise once more for that, she needed to give Verity a chance to get angry if she wanted to. Denying her that right just wasn’t fair.
She also needed to owl her family and ask for clothes to be sent. Scarlett was quite happy at Bletchley Manor but she supposed it was only right that she actually got in contact with them. Plus, she knew she was annoying Miles no end with this continuous forgetting malarkey. It would be best to cover all bases just in case she pissed him off too much one day.
It was with this in mind that she sat down and started to write, sending the letters off with Miles’s owl as soon as she was done.
Dear Verity,
I want to apologise for my appalling behaviour the other day. It was not a memory I wished to remember, especially as it caused you distress. I can’t remember much about our friendship, darling, but I do know I would never want to hurt you on purpose.
So in fact, this letter is your carte blanche: Anything you want to say to me, you can say. I’ll likely forget it and even if I don’t, I’ll burn the letter as soon as I read it so we can be done with it.
If you’re asking for answers, I can’t give you them and I don’t think I’d be able to even if I had my memory back; all I can remember was that there was a lot of alcohol involved and even more regrets the morning after.
Please forgive my dreadful actions?
Fondly, Scarlett Capper

Dear Mother, Father and Thomas,
I don’t know if news has reached you yet but I’m back in England. Before you ask why I’m not at home, I had a bit of an accident whilst out on the continent. I angered my loverthe married man I was sleeping withmy bank? somebody and it resulted in an accident. I suffered head injuries and my memory, unfortunately, is completely shot to pieces.
The Healers are somewhat positive about my recovery nevertheless and I’m inclined to believe them until I know for sure otherwise. However, I’m sending word because I need my wardrobe. I’ve been living with only 6 robes for the past two weeks and even I’m not addled enough to forget that I’m rather vain.
Could you send a house elf with my things, please? I’m staying at Bletchley Manor with Miles, a friend from school. Apparently I don’t like you lotdon’t you want me at home?will you come and visit?
Fondly, Scarlett

Three hours later, when a house elf knocked on her bedroom door to say that her trousseau had arrived, Scarlett sighed and nodded for him to bring her things in, a bit dismayed when she asked if there was a note and the elf merely shook her head.
She supposed that that was all the answer she needed from her family, after all.
