Rodolphus poured himself a cognac and then one for Rodolphus. He brought the glass over to the blond man then sat down in the armchair opposite him. He took a sip of the smooth liquor, nodding slightly in approval at the fine vintage.
"It was a long and somewhat difficult birth," he said after a moment. "Padma had been bedridden for a couple of months prior to the birth. Nathaniel was apparently somewhat reluctant to emerge into this world."
He chuckled. "He is. Quite besotted in fact. And as proud as any new father." Pride had not quite been the emotion he had felt when he had held the child Bellatrix had given birth to. His lingering doubts about his paternity had ensured that. But he would have his chance to experience it soon enough. If only the damn potions would do their work.
He took a sip of his cognac and his smile became cold and calculating. "And speaking of sons, I had a most intriguing owl from one of my Death Eaters a few days ago. He has a daughter at Hogwarts and his daughter had written to him about her new Head of House and her Head of House's son." He paused and chuckled coldly. "Would you believe, Lucius, that Severus Snape has a son?"
