Jander growled as he read the owl.

"First, mate, if you want a vampire's help, send a bat!" He screamed into the night. "Second, you better have some fresh blood for me..."

Shaking his head, Jander found the ugliest, most hideous bat he could and attached his reply.

Mr. Nott,

This sounds urgent. I am on my way.

-Jander

Theo was pleased with the answer, and didn't hesitate to call Mimsy to watch over Nathaniel as he left for the house, a portkey delivering him straight there. He didn't tell Draco, knowing he would most likely not approve. Not of him meeting with a vampire, or with him focusing on Lisa.

He didn't care.

What he wanted, needed, was for Lisa Lestrange to die. If he needed to use someone like Jander for the job than so be it. He didn't like the man, didn't need to. What he needed was to get Lisa killed.

His face was hard and his eyes cold as he arrived at the house, and he didn't have to wait long before Jander was there. For once, he did not ask an elf to open, but let the man in himself.

'Jander, thank you for meeting with me,' he said simply, stepping back and letting the man inside.

Jander ran the whole way to Hogsmeade, and was worn out by the time he got there. He took several minutes to recompose himself, making sure the strain didn't show. When someone as powerful as Nott wanted a favor and sounded as urgent as he did, Jander never kept such a person waited.

He knocked on the door, and was not at all surprised to find Theo opening the door and not the elf that Jander wanted to kill the last time he met with Nott.

"Well-" Jander started, but decided he had nothing to say. "You're welcome."

The vampire looked around and immediately lamented that he wasn't meeting the chap at Nott manor. He would kill to get his hands on that library. Literally, kill.

Gesturing towards the sitting room in the back, Theo walked with the man there offering him a seat and nearly taking one himself until he remembered the vampire's quirk.

'Would you like a cognac?' he offered waiting to sit down until Jander answered.

Jander followed Nott into the sitting room, choosing the chair near the fireplace.

He glanced around the room, then muttered, "I'd prefer the library."

Jander gave the man an odd look, surely he knew vampires couldn't drink that stuff without becoming ill. For now, he'd chalk it up to Nott's situation, but he made a note to keep a closer eye on him.

"I'm sadistic, not masochistic," he replied with a wry smile. "I'm fine."

Theo blinked, remembering clearly how Jander had told him he liked to hold a glass for the feel of it when telling a story. Or was that Sanguini? Suddenly he wasn't sure any more - really there wasn't much difference as far as he saw it between one vampire and the next. Not that he said that, of course, or let it show in any way.

Instead he sat down, pondering faking a smile but deciding against it. 'Well good then, because it's your sadistic side which I have use for,' he said instead.

Leaning back into his chair he pondered how to start, then deciding the direct approach was the best one. 'Before we agree can we both agree that anything that is said in this room remains here?' he asked, knowing that of course he could never be sure of such a thing, yet in this case there wasn't much of a choice. He wanted Lisa Lestrange dead, and the vampire in front of him was his best option to do it.

Jander's eyebrow arched when Theo mentioned the need for his sadistic side. "My dear Mr. Nott, if I knew you needed my sadistic side, I would've come even quicker."

He hadn't gotten to play with someone in way too long. Yes. A week was too long. Hopefully it would be magical blood. Oh, how he longed for that sweet taste of magical blood. Powerful magical blood would be even better.

"Discretion is my middle name." Well, actually, LaGunas, but that doesn't help any.

Theo nodded, though he would normally smile at the joke, he didn't feel today was a day he could fake a smile successfully.

'Good,' he said instead, looking straight at Jander. 'I want you to kill Lisa Lestrange - born Turpin.' It was a plain statement of facts, no hiding, no reasons, just facts.

'I don't care how you do it, but I want proof that she's dead when you're done and I'm able to provide you with places she might be living at the moment - though she is aware of me knowing these, as is she aware of my...shall we call it dislike? ...Of her.' He paused then, waiting for Jander's reaction. Being asked to make enemies with the Lestranges wasn't a small order after all.

Jander sat there studying the man, trying to figure out who he wanted tortured. Was it a mistress? A double-crosser? Someone who needs to be taught a lesson?

He sat there in stony silence then broke out laughing. "Lisa Lestrange? You want me to kill a Lestrange?"

He continued laughing for about a minute, then his face turned cold as if set in stone. "Do you think I'm *stupid* mate? Why the hell should I make an enemy of the Lestranges?"

Of course, they don't have to know who killed her, he thought, But the bite marks would prove problematic. Always the sodding bite marks. If only I were a mosquito...

The laughter was not completely surprising, but it was a mirth that Theo could not share.

'I never said I asked for something easy,' he said simply, his face dead serious. 'As for your being stupid, I would certainly hope not because if you are then you wouldn't have a chance of even getting close to her.'

He leaned back, trying to figure out what the best approach would be, then deciding to play it bold. What did he have to lose? 'Of course,' he said slowly. 'If you don't think you can manage it without being detected, then you'll probably do best to not to attempt it. As you pointed out, being an enemy of the Lestranges isn't something you'd want, after all.'

Jander leaned forward in the chair, a look of rage crossing his face.

"Look mate, I can do the job. I've killed more dangerous witches before Lisa was born. And I will kill even more dangerous ones after she is dead. But let us return to this most pressing of issues: What. is. in. it. for. me."

So that had been the right approach. Theo felt like smirking for the first time in days. 'What do you want there to be in it?' he asked coldly. In this case there wasn't much he wouldn't offer in return.

'Name your price, then we can negotiate.'

Jander sat there for several minutes thinking. There were so many things he could ask for. So many things he wanted. Like a taste of the blood of Harry Potter, he thought with an evil smile.

"Let us revisit the issue of compensation in a moment. Am I correct in assuming you want her dead sooner rather than later? And what kind of proof do you want?"

Theo wondered why the vampire didn't name his price, but as long as he was going along with the idea, he really didn't care. 'Yes, that would be a correct assumption,' he said coolly.

'And any proof would do as long as it was a sure proof. A memory, medical evidence, her head on a platter... I really don't care as long as I can be certain, positively so, of her death.'

"Decapitation, eh?" Jander smiled even more evilly. Oh he really did love to decapitate people. Or he could rip out her heart. That could be fun too. The possibilities were endless.

"Very well then." He rose to shake the other wizard's hand. "I will be back in a few days to discuss the price of my services."

Theo blinked, he hadn't meant that to be taken literary, though when he thought about it, he really didn't give a damn if Jander took it that way. As long as Lisa Lestrange died, he wouldn't question the method.

'There is something you should know,' Theo said, as he rose himself. 'Lisa is an Animagus, don't let her use her form to slip away from you.' He didn't add that if he let her slip away, he'd most likely to be dead. Jander may be a vampire, obviously a powerful one, but Lisa was a powerful witch and would probably know a spell or ten to kill a vampire with. That wasn't his problem, however, Jander knew enough about the Lestranges to realise this was not an easy target.

He took the vampire's hand, suppressing a shudder when he felt the cold skin against his. 'Send a message first, I do not reside either here or at Nott Manor at the moment. I will look wait for your letter.'

Jander was glad to see Theo blink when he spoke of decapitation. This was good information to be had. He didn't trust Nott.

"What is her animagus form?" Jander had never killed an animagus before. He knew they were powerful. That would make her blood all the sweeter.

He had just turned to leave, when he turned back. "You never told me, why do you want Lisa Lestrange dead?"

'I have never seen her transform, nor do I have confirmation on her form. However, the rumour is that she's a cat of some kind,' he said. 'I have reasons to believe my sources would be correct.' Blaise had hinted but never told, Rodolphus would never tell him of course. But there were people within the Auror department who knew, and Death Eaters had seen a cat at Battles, stroking around Rabastan just before Lisa appeared. It was enough to make Theo suspect these rumours to be true.

His face turned to stone at the question, a cold hard look in his eyes. Yet Theo already knew that refusing might make the vampire do the same, and with his ability for getting through wards - including the fidelius - Jander was his best hope of success.

'She killed my wife,' he said shortly, not elaborating the matter further. It was a private matter - one he'd prefer to put behind himself as soon as possible.

"A cat, eh?" Jander nodded and made a mental note. It shouldn't be too problematic.

"I figured it had to be something severe, you don't strike me as the person to risk the wrath of the Lestranges for anything less."

He nodded to the man again. "If there's nothing else, I will take my leave."

'No I tend not to be a fool,' Theo answered simply, then nodding at Jander's words.

'I will see you again once you have a price for me. When we've negotiated a price I will give you the list of places she could be living at up until a few days ago. I doubt she's moved anywhere, but if she has then you'll have to find her on your own.'

He walked the vampire out to the door, holding it open for him. He himself would use the portkey back to Malfoy Manor as soon as Jander was gone, but not a moment before then.

Jander nodded. "Until then."

He had no intention of waiting until he had named a price to begin the hunt. This was too exciting to put it off.

He walked out the door, grinning into the night.
