Neville heaved a sigh of relief when Ginny said that she'd be there with him when he had to tell Alice that he was her son. Shaking his head though, he leaned into her, just glad of her touch. "Thank you love." She did seem nervous, almost anxious and Neville knew just how she felt. "You will be a help, I know that right now, even if it's only for me." The thought had crossed his mind that Alice may not believe him at all.. having someone else there who's telling her the truth may help too, but he didn't want to put that on Ginny. Just her presence would make things easier.
He was drowsy and pleasantly warm, more from her and the drink than the fire. When her lips touched his neck and the sound of her voice reached him, Neville felt perfectly happy, despite all his concerns. They dissolved in an instant. Ginny's hand turned his head gently to face her and Neville watched the flame of the fire reflect in her eyes even as she spoke. Neville kissed her back softly and thought he would be content just to sit here and be with her all night. "I'll never doubt it."
It was his turn to draw her in close and hold her against him just to have her near. "You've already done more than you know Ginny." Kissing her temple and sighing into her hair, Neville thought for a moment. "All I need is for you to be near and I'll know everything will turn out alright." It was true, she made him feel lighter and more optimistic. If Ginny could love him this much, return the love he felt for her, than Neville felt anything was possible.
