Summary: Theo and Ver goes to inspect the wards at the house to determine how someone got through them.
Going with carriage from Oxfordshire to Scotland took a great deal of time. Luckily the carriage Theo and Verity were riding with was charmed to make the journey quickly (and invisibly as to not scare any Muggles with the enormous speed), though it was still hours before they arrived in town. The carriage was nice though, and it was the safest way for Verity to travel these days, so Theo did not mind the length of the trip.
It also occurred to him to make the carriage available for Verity should something happen. It would be a safe way to move her, Montague and Marlowe to safety and with the charms on the carriage no one would see them and therefore leave them alone. Yes, if needed Verity would have the carriage, and Theo would make sure she knew that - on the way home.
Now though, they needed to focus on the wards of the house, and to do that he needed Ver's full attention. In his pocket was the list of people who the wards would not stop from entering the yard, a list he'd go through in great detail as soon as they've checked to see if the wards were indeed as intact as Verity thought they were.
If they were, and if they were as good as Verity thought, then one of the people on the list was no doubt Montague's attacker. Not that he said so out loud to Verity at this point. No doubt she already knew where his mind was heading.
As they pulled up in front of the house, Theo jumped out of the carriage, walking around it to help Verity out from the other side.
'Take it easy now, we have all the time in the world.'
