In some odd way he was reminded of himself when he saw the look in Verity's face. The fight between what was logically for the best, and what felt so utterly wrong at the same time. Squeezing her hand a bit longer than necessary, he helped her up into the carriage before moving around it to seat himself next to her.
'I understand that you'd probably prefer not to speak of this,' he said softly as the carriage started to pick up speed, quickly leaving Hogsmeade behind them. 'But I need to ask you anyway. Did Montague fight with anyone on the list you gave me? And is there anyone - anyone at all - on that list that you know would know this advanced magic?'
It would be a long ride home, and while they went he'd make sure to find out what he needed. The wheels in his head were already turning and he knew it was only a matter of time before he pinpointed the guilty party.
Once that was done he'd not rest until that person had shared his secret. Who ever it was would pay for their deeds.
