'What?' Pansy said slowly. She listened to Cass explain what had happened. Then she raised her hand and hit him on the arm with her fist as hard as she could, which wasn't so very hard, really. 'How could you!' she cried out.
'You let me think you'd failed at being faithful!' she exclaimed. 'Do you know how worried I've been that I would end up doing the same thing????' She glared at him for a long moment, almost about to cry. She hadn't even been able to tell Harry, or talk to him about her worries, because she didn't want him to even suspect that she might think she'd have a hard time with being only with him.
Then she said sourly, 'And you're an idiot! You should have told Percy what was happening! He is the head of the Aurors, you know! Give him a little credit!'
But his mum.... Pansy immediately felt bad that she'd said all that. 'I'm so sorry about your mother!' she told him, meaning every word. 'But what happened?'
Then she suddenly glared at him again. 'You should have told Harry!' she cried. 'He'd have helped you!'
Then she felt bad again. 'Oh, I'm sorry!' she apologized. 'But honestly, Cass! You're a Slytherin. You have resources!' she told him in no uncertain terms. 'Even if you aren't pureblood, you're still one of us! We'd have helped!'
But she let herself be distracted by the talk of Harry's presents. 'Okay,' she said, much happier by the new topic. 'I expanded the closet so he had a place for his things,' she said proudly. 'And I got him his own dresser, to match the rest of the furniture,' she shared. She was very happy about her gifts.
'And then,' she went on, 'I added a room up in the attic next to his old bedroom. It's a study. For all his....' she almost said Order, 'for all his stuff that he doesn't want me into,' she amended.
The thought of getting away for a short break, particularly one where they could take Polly swimming for the first time, had it's appeal. Pansy sighed wistfully.
