Pansy looked at Cass in surprise. 'But why?' she exclaimed. 'He's a very nice man. He's good with Polly and he's always been most attentive and helpful to me,' she added, frowning at him as if he'd grown a new head. 'What's the matter with him?' she asked curiously.
She gave him an impish grin. 'Well, you know, I can think of someone who could probably arrange a new wand made especially for you, but then you'd have to make funny sounds again and you probably wouldn't take him up on it....' she teased.
She looked at him in horror. 'You resigned????' she exclaimed softly. 'But why????' Her eyes slid slowly to the side as she thought it through. 'Oh, he's your boss!' she murmured quietly. 'But surely you knew that when you took up with him???' she frowned. 'Oh, Cass, I'm sorry! I know how much you enjoyed that job?' she said sympathetically.
A sudden gleam came to her eye. 'You want to manage an Inn?' she said craftily. It was nice to have a ready-made job to offer her friend. It wasn't even charity. Not that she wouldn't have come up with something to offer if she'd needed.
'Whatcha reading?' Pansy asked, looking around curiously. 'Anything good????'
Then she made a face and rolled her eyes, repeating under her breath, 'Susan!'
