It was his final words that made it clear to Theo that things were not as bad as they seemed. No Slytherin would willingly admit to such weakness, and Rodolphus was a proud man. He had lost his hand, but how poor he was as a result was anyone's guess. Not as bad as he made out to be, Theo was sure.
Still, Theo didn't let that realisation show on his face, but simply nodded. 'If you need me to come elsewhere in the future I will of course,' he said softly, the same level of concern in his voice as before. He didn't say more, knowing that too much show of concern would tip Rodolphus off immediately, he would not alter his behaviour.
'Padma asked me to send along her well wishes,' he said instead. 'And you will have to come and see Nathaniel when you're better, he's growing so fast you can almost see the difference from day to day.'
