Cass nodded, not doubting the sincerity of Percy's words. He could understand both views, he guessed, though there was a reason why he'd never wanted a relationship. It was too close, too much, too risky. It demanded trust and he'd grown up learning never to trust anyone but his parents. Even his trust to Emilia had its limits.
He wasn't sure why he'd started to so completely trust Percy, trust him enough to tell him everything he'd lied to everyone else about. Not that he minded in the slightest, not when he was here in his arms. Even now, with the feeling of guilt and sorrow still threatening to overwhelm him, he was in some way happy to be where he was.
A part of him wondered if his mother would be happy for him or if she'd be disappointed. It was no secret that she'd wanted him to get together with a woman, preferably Susan, and have kids and a family and all of that. He'd never wanted that for himself though - why risk exposing a kid to this world? Besides, he didn't like to be around kids. They made him uneasy.
'He closed his eyes as Percy kissed his fingers, opening them only after Percy stopped. 'It's OK,' he said softly. 'I'm sorry I never asked you to meet her,' he then said. 'She would have liked you, and your views, she always thought my father was too careful.' He smiled softly, laying back down on Percy's chest. 'I'm not equally sure she would have liked us, though' he admitted. 'She was hoping I'd find a woman and give her grand-kids.' He half snorted. 'The number of women she's tried to fix me up with over the years...' he rolled his eyes.
'I think she wanted me to have what she and dad had though, a family. She never understood why I didn't want one.'
