Cass was not expecting a letter as he sat in his and Percy's bed, reading. He was most definitely NOT expecting a raven to swoop in through the open window and caw as it dropped a letter and a package in his lap before leaving.
That didn't mean that he didn't know just who used a raven to deliver his mail.
Staring at the package, he was unable to open it for the longest time. Instead he stared at it until Sabina, who was lying next to him, became curious and started to sniff at the package.
'Not now,' he told her, though he hardly really saw her even as he pushed her away, gently forcing her to jump off the bed before he with trembling hands opened the letter, the words almost jumping off the page as he read them forcing him to steady himself enough to remind him to breathe.
He wasn't even sure why he opened the parcel, why he had to see for himself, but a moment later he was bent over the side of the bed, emptying the entire contents of his stomach onto the floor. His entire body was shaking as he called out for Percy, and he could barely see for the fog that covered his eyes. Yet he wasn't sad for the last part. He couldn't look at it again. Not the letter, not what was in the package.
'PERCY!' he bellowed on the top of his lungs once more, praying that he'd hear him, needing a strength he didn't have himself right now.
