"If you find any wrong doing, then you do what needs to be done," Percy answered, because he wouldn't cover for Cass or himself. "You will have a great deal of discretion and hopefully you will use it wisely, because you will be judge and jury on this one. Making it public would be just as bad as... well I guess you can judge for yourself."
Percy sighed and then shook his head. "Not really, this is about Cass mostly. I know you were involved with him long ago, but I'm hard pressed to find someone who hasn't been involved with him," he said with a little snort, mostly to himself, because he really wanted someone completely unattached, but he didn't think he'd find this person.
"Also, I know how much Aurors dislike investigate one of their one, but Cass is aware of the situation and regardless of the outcome, he will resign as soon as he's able to sit long enough to write a letter of resignation," he reassured McLaggen, although for all of his preambles, he was still hesitating about the story.
