"You should have talked to me, not pretend to cheat on me." But as he said it, he knew that they were talking in circles. "It doesn't matter what you should have done," he added with a sigh.
Percy stared back at Cass, and he hated to see tears there. He didn't think he had ever seen Cass cry, even when he told him about his mother, he wasn't crying, and it almost made Percy reconsider everything he had just said, but a few tears didn't change the problems they were facing.
"All right," he finally said after a while. "You didn't tell Bletchley, but did you tell anyone else? This is important, Cass. I need to know what we're facing." He didn't even know if he could take the answer at face value, but he needed to start somewhere. "Does Bones know? Yes, she does, but I doubt she'd go for a chat with Lestrange, still she might have told someone else. Pansy knows, would she have told anyone? Considering what happened to Lockhart, she should know better, but perhaps we need to ask them. I need to ask." Cass could stay where he was for the time being. "Oh and Morag, although she'd rather cut Lestrange's balls off than tell him anything." The thought made him smile, because his Morag would never tell anyone, of that he was certain.
"I didn't mean Bletchley would talk. He seems too stupid to care, but Lestrange could. It would be the best way to cause chaos. It'd be difficult to prove that they are lies if you live with me. It'll be hard enough to make it go away considering how much time I spend in this room," Percy pondered. "We might not have a choice about whether you live with me or not, regardless of my personal decision. It might be too dangerous regardless."
He couldn't stand looking into Cass's eyes and see those tears still there. He took out his handkerchief and folded it until you couldn't see the monographed P in the corner and wiped the tears away. "Maybe you should go and stay with Bones. She'd take care of you, and it would diminish the impact of those rumours." He put the handkerchief away, frowning at the thought. "Was Bletchley right?" he asked after a moment. "Did you have sex with her too?"
