RP: I'm Tired.
Date: January 20, 2006 (late afternoon) Characters: Terry, Ben and Stephen Location: Hogwarts Private/Public: Private Rating: PG Warnings: None Summary: Terry arrives home after finishing the wards on the Aurory
He'd meant to do the warding on the Aurory yesterday, but when he'd stopped by the building after his meeting with Cass and Pansy, the waterfall hadn't quite settled enough for his needs. Another twelve hours had done the trick though, so Terry had gone into town early Sunday and spent the morning adding to the wards in place already. The wards he'd added simply boosted the protections already in place, and protected the waterfall wards he'd done the week before, but there had been several steps involved and all required energy.
Warding was always hard work, and extremely tiring, but he'd always managed through in the past. Today though it had seemed doubly hard and he was nearly shaking when he'd finished. He'd managed to keep the tremors hidden until he'd gotten home and sent Dobby to the kitchens to fix some tea for him and Ben, who was playing quietly with his pirate ship and tree house.
Terry sat down on the couch and leaned his head against the cushion. The tremors had come back, and he closed his eyes, trying to center himself so they'd stop. He was so tired. Maybe a little nap couldn't hurt. Dobby would be back shortly with tea, so there was nothing wrong with taking a short catnap. Just enough to get back his center and stop the shaking. Yes, just a short nap...
Ben looked up from playing with his toys and saw Daddy lying on the couch. "Bob, Daddy is taking a nap! He needs a blanket!" Ben said, springing up and running to his room. He grabbed the warm blanket Daddy always wrapped around him and Captain Blackmoor and ran back to the living room. He very carefully tucked the blanket around Daddy and set Captain Blackmoor on Daddy's chest.
"There, Captain will watch out for Daddy while he sleeps. Come on Bob, lets play more!" he said, and sat back down with his pirate ship and men. His tummy was a little hungry, but he knew Daddy would wake up soon, and Dobby was bringing tea and snacks, so he could wait. "Come on, the Royal Navy is after the pirates, Bob! We have to help them 'scape!"
Dobby had came and gone with tea and snacks, and Ben had shushed him when he'd gone to wake Daddy. "He needs to have a nap, Dobby! My Daddy is very tired!" Ben said. Dobby nodded and poured Ben a cup of tea and arranged the sandwiches carefully on the plate. Ben took two and tossed one to Bob, who wolfed it down quickly. "Good dog, Bob," Ben said, eating his own sandwich quickly before turning to the biscuits. There were apples too, but Ben wanted biscuits more than he wanted apples.
Daddy was still sleeping when Ben was done, so Ben was a big boy and brought all the dishes to the kitchen. Daddy would be so proud of him. Then he went back to play with his toys, but there was a knock at the door. Ben looked at Daddy, who wasn't waking up, and shrugged. He could answer it himself then, he thought, and ran to the door to see who was there.
"Hi Uncle Stephen," he whispered. "Shhh, Daddy is having a nap. He's been sleeping a long time. I took care of my own dishes!"
