He sighed, not sure how to answer that himself. 'I'm not sure,' he said honestly. 'I think he must have had me watched or something, mostly because I can't think of any other way for him to find out but he knew. He knew everything.'
He sighed, not sure how to make Percy believe him. 'He kidnapped her, trying to get me spying on you. I didn't dare to tell you, but I couldn't...' He swallowed, hesitating for a moment, but looking straight at Percy, hoping, praying that he'd actually believe him. 'I thought that if I could make you distrust me, get you away from me, then perhaps I could protect you both. I was an idiot, he probably killed her the moment he had his hands on her.'
Sometime during talking he'd turned to look at his hands, yet now when he silenced he looked up again. 'Please, you have to know me well enough to know that I would not make this up.'
