Padma held a smirk. She was so glad Theo wore his glasses now, at least when he was busy doing so much reading. She knew he was so self-conscious about them. But then Nathaniel could do almost anything he wanted, and they'd both indulge him.
"He told me he wanted some Turkish delight. Real Turkish delight, from Istanbul." Her smile showed her mirth, but she quickly sat down and showed Theo her letter.
"Turkey's biggest silk worm farm is going into receivership because the owner recently passed away." Padma licked her lips as she spoke. "I know father had tried for years and years to get his hands on some of Ayla Bashir's silk worms."
"And now the farm is just sitting there, and going for the highest bidder." She didn't need to tell Theo that sort of business opportunity could not be ignored. "Those worms could truly strengthen those and provide new strains in the silk back on the farm."
"But even though the farm's reputation is legendary, I'd hate to go and buy the place unseen. And you know how much paperwork the Turks like to make." She toyed with the pendant around her neck as she waited for Theo's answer.
