Miles was grinning about the fact she was remembering Eva, and the ficus, and he ran a hand over his hair. "I should make you remember. It's far too embarrassing to retell," he said, winking at Cass.
"He only bristles those he doesn't want to shag," he said with a chuckle.
When she stopped mid sentence, Miles felt her stiffen, and saw the blank look that crossed her face. Her next words frightened him, and he felt her pull away.
"Elf! Get Mistress Lettie's notebook!" he snapped to the house elf. He glanced at the clock on the mantle. "It's okay, your notebook will explain it all Lettie." He felt like a broken recording, but it really had been a while since she last forgot.
"I'm Miles, that's Cass and we are friends. You were hit with a modified memory spell, and you keep forgetting things, Lettie." He would start at the beginning again, and repeat what he needed to without any impatience. He glanced worriedly at Cass, who had yet to see her like this.
