OWL: Percy to Pansy, patronus to Susan
Date: June 21, 2006
Characters: Percy (NPC), Pansy, Susan (NPC)
Location: The Aurors office, the sky
Summary: Percy sees the lists of dead and injured, and one name stands out more than the others.
Percy had once more worked almost through the night. It seemed it had become a habit of late – stay as late as possible at the office, never go home, never lie down to think.
Yet as he saw the lists of dead and injured, the one name he didn't want to see stood out as if it was written in fire.
Cassius Vaisey – badly injured, possibly dead or dying - information unclear.
He gasped for air, not sure what to do with the information. Not sure how to handle the images that formed in his mind at the mere sight of the name.
The image of his face when they made – no had sex. The image of his face laughing as he teased him about something or another. The image of him kissing someone else, thinking he would not be home for several hours.
He pushed all of them away, inhaling sharply at the pain in his chest. Yet even so, he could not ignore the words on the list.
Badly injured, possibly dead or dying
possibly dead or dying
dead or dying
Swearing, he got up from the chair, walking in circles around his desk. He couldn't just leave it be, yet he couldn't fathom going to the Shack himself. He couldn't see him, couldn't allow himself to look at him.
Sitting back down, he wondered if Susan was with him. A part of him hoped she wasn't. Hoped that he was in pain. Another part of him wanted to scream at the words, wanted him to not be alone if it was true. In the end he did the only thing he could master himself to do. He pulled out a parchment, scribbled down a note and sent it off with the office owl.
C V He is injured and at the shack, possibly dy very seriously. I thought you'd want to know.
Watching the owl fly out of the window he sighed, then sent off a patronus to Susan with the same meaning. Once he was done he blackened the name on the list – magically of course, so that no one else would see the thick black line but enough to keep the name from his eyes.
Now perhaps he could keep working.
