Lee Jordan definitely deserved a kiss upon her return home. No, no, she could not complicate things further, so... Lee Jordan definitely deserved a firm handshake upon her return home! Gabrielle Delacour had finished a long day at Soho Studios, a London recording facility recommended by the sweet wireless personality. It had been a dream come true.
Just as predicted, Studio Manager Sam was quite accommodating. Everything Gabrielle asked for- from a glass of water to a chance to play with the Muggle recording equipment- was granted immediately with a smile and a "duhh buh buh duuh buh." She had no idea before the visit that a part-Veela could so strongly rock the foundations of non-wizards, but she was not about to let guilt make her walk out on what she had wanted so badly.
Though a joy and an honor, the session had not been as easy as she had convinced herself it would be. The Engineers continuously stopped working to stare at her, resulting in the recording of dead air, noise, and even one rather inappropriate remark that apparently offended Sam as much as it offended her. He hit the man, Joe, in the palm with his own palm and it made a rather harsh cracking sound. ...That meant anger for Muggles, right?
At the end of the day, they were well past the Studio's supposed closing time (and even further past her paid for free slot), and nowhere near a full album was recorded. A 5-song set was taken out of Soho with Gabbi, including the French love piece Petit Fleur (dedicated to her sister), and the lesser-known, sultry Pardon originally by Elodie Frege. All were in French, except for what Sam called the "Secret Track"- How Deep is the Ocean, the first song she sang with Kevin Entwhistle. ...It must have been one gigantic secret, because she had no idea where the song went or how to play it!!
The worst part was figuring out how to get her newly-recorded music back to Hogsmeade, as she knew for a fact the residents had none of the technology that Sam recommended to her. Her musical knowledge was quite aware of cassettes and CDs, but she knew nobody else that was. In fact, she got the distinct image in her head of one of the Weasleys ripping the fragile tape from a cassette and ruining it completely! To save herself some embarrassment, the girl essentially batted her eyelashes sweetly and, in return, got copies of her work on every available format. These included large, old-looking records- something she figured may work more appropriately for magic types.
Arms full, she had thanked the gentlemen profusely- but they had followed her right out the studio doors, causing worry. She could not let them see her using a portkey, but thankfully, things worked out when the Engineer named Guy tripped over himself ogling, drawing attention away from the glowing girl.
Now she sat in her London hotel, having proudly shown everything to a very confused (but equally proud) Morag. Upon their return home, she would need to figure out some sort of copying and marketing strategy, but until then, she would sit in bed staring at the devices that magically held her voice inside. ...No, magic was not the word at all. In this case, things were the exact opposite, and Gabrielle would jettison her career with Muggle items and her own treasured talent. Hopefully Umbridge wouldn't ruin it for her; the toad would surely try!
Her first record would go to Fleur, as she was her sister and the most important, but Lee would not be far behind at all.
