'Alright, alright!' Pansy said. She didn't like the idea that this Susan had been a better friend to Cass than she, but she hadn't known something was wrong! Of course, if she saw Cass more often than maybe she would have, she thought, immediately cross with herself because that would then make it her fault that she hadn't known and she didn't like that.
She rolled her eyes at his excuse. 'Silly! You just have to tell him you fell hard for someone but it didn't work out. He'd respect your misery enough to not pursue it, I'm sure,' she told him.
She gave him a stern look. 'I could send Hilly to tell Miss Susan Bones where you were, you know,' she informed him. 'It will do you no good at all to sit around and mope, Cass!' She sighed. 'But I do know how strong the temptation can be,' she admitted.
