Dennis gave her an innocent little smile as she hugged him. "Thanks." The scent of her skin was almost too much to bear, but he had to learn to control himself.
Coming in, he stood just inside the door, waiting as she locked up behind him. "It's not been a lot of fun, you know. First Colin threw me out, and warded the place against me, then having to deal without my magic, and then all those people who think I murdered someone." His brow furrowed in mock concern.
"It's hard when you have nowhere else to go, and then all you can drink is blood." He felt that rambling incoherently would make him believable. "You know, Sanguini used to tell me he could go a few days without having a drink, and that takes years to learn how to do. I mean, I used to let him have a drink every few days." He'd never told anyone he'd let Sanguini drink from him when he was a wizard, but it probably wouldn't hurt now.
