Summary: Ginny and Neville’s engagement party!
It had been quite the long week for both Neville and Ginny. They still worked, but in the evenings Neville would go to his home, at Longbottom House, to make sure everything was ready for their Engagement Party.
And finally, the big day had arrived and Neville was slightly nervous, even considering the grounds of his family home were made immaculate. Everything was in bloom; the roses, the climbing blossoms over archways and all the magical topiaries were wandering around, showing off their leafy-greenness in the sunlight. If he were a less modest man, Neville would be openly proud of his accomplishments of readying the house in such a manner. But he wasn’t, and his mind was often elsewhere - which is why he’d need a few minor glamour charms from thorn scratches and pruning charms that bounced back at him when he forgot to take the protective charms off of the oldest plants on the grounds.
When all was said and done, and all the portkeys were delivered to those who had requested them, all the inhabitants of 7 Oddington had traveled to Yorkshire for the party. Neville was there to greet his fiancé and her family before anyone else - he had a few loose ends to tie up, like going down to the vault to fetch a couple of things and getting himself dressed in the suit Ginny had picked out for him (which was spot on, he thought). He was slightly downtrodden though, walking through the halls of his home and thinking of how he wished his parents could be there. The nurses that cared for Frank and Alice said it may upset them to be displaced, even for such a happy occasion. But Neville would make sure that they saw all the pictures, every memento and kind wish that their friends and family had given, to share it with them.
Stepping outside, there were small tables and chairs set up all over the English Garden and all throughout the orchard that backed onto it as well - complete with enchanted lighting to glow like fireflies in the trees once the sun had set. Toby and the other house elves were busily dashing about behind shrubberies, placing champagne flutes and other drinks on the tables, all silently, showing off their art proudly. With everything in place, and Neville taking one last look over the setting, he tried to burn the scene in his memory. He took up a glass of champagne for himself and followed Ginny’s lead, mingling with their guests and not being able to control the excited grin from appearing on his face. It was going to be a party no one would forget.
