Liam was bouncing when the parcel arrived with his name on it. Daddy seemed surprised, and read the letter out to him.
It took him a few minutes to explain who Dora was, and when Daddy took that distrustful look on his face, he simply accepted it as a gift given in good faith. Daddy muttered something about Liam making friends with anyone (which made Liam grin wildly), even as he fished the book out of the wrappings and opened it up.
All children, but one, grow up.
Liam chuckled as the words were read aloud, and he wanted to hear more of it now.
But Daddy said he had to write a thank you letter, and he pulled out his quill so he could help Liam write a thank you.
Dear Dora,
I am glad there were no pirates at the party. I think with so many of us there we scared them off, and I did try to eat as much chocolate as I could (even if Daphee did get a little cross that I got a tummy ache later).
This book is fantastic! and I can't wait to finish it. Daddy says I have to wait until bedtime, as I think Daphee will want to read it to me and Nigel too.
I will write to you again when I've finished, and tell you all about it! Daddy says you are welcome to come to the Three Broomsticks, and he can thank you in person.
