She seemed truly surprised and almost a little shocked by his offer; he supposed he understood why. At this point in time, most people would actively be backing away from things that would get them in trouble with Umbridge, and the werewolf clinic she ran would be among the first things to back away from.
"I wish," he muttered in reply. "Do you have wards or spells up against people listening in?" he asked. He would tell her about his own little rebellion, if there wasn't a chance of being overheard. He really was trying to avoid going to jail. Or wherever Umbridge put people she didn't like. He reached out and squeezed her shoulder gently, supportively.
He chuckled quietly. "All right then. I'll just keep you company while you do everything then," he said.
