OWL: Guilian Montague to Rabastan Lestrange
Date: 3 June 2006
Characters: Guilian Montague, Rabastan Lestrange, (and unfortunately, Umbridge and Susan Bones)
Location: the skies, and wherever Umbridge takes it
Private/Public: Private (she obviously can't read that if it's private, right?)
Summary: Guilian complete his mission and owls Rabastan Lestrange, unaware of the new Ministry requirements for tagged owls. Oh Dear.
Guilian had completed his mission, and the relief was tempered with a gnawing sense of... loss. He'd wielded the killing curse, far too swiftly for his victim's liking, and far too easily for his own. In the end, his quarry made the mistake of stopping for a Muggle traffic light, upon which Guilian grabbed him, dragging him into a dark alley and ending it there and then.
All rather anti climactic after weeks of following him. The man was dead, and even as the dark magic sang, he tried to push away it's distracting cry. He had one final task - a most distasteful one, but Rabastan had requested proof of this kill. Vanstone was a slippery bastard, and as Guilian sliced the man's ring finger off, cauterising it with a slicing curse, he picked it up. He had worn a distinctive signet ring, and attached to the finger, it was a sign that the man truly was dead.
He tried not to bring the contents of his stomach back up as he wrapped the offensive item in a handkerchief, stuffing the rest of the body into a Muggle dumpster nearby. Snapping the man's wand in half, he released a sigh.
It was done.
Ignoring the petulant plea of the dark magic that was still thrumming through his system... but you can still do so much more. Why not go and play with some of these Muggles? Nobody will know they are gone, and you can truly test your powers. You're so good, Guilian, and powerful. Why not try, and then one day you will be powerful enough to rule other wizards. Your magic is so powerful, Guilian. Just try a few more spells - you know you want to... He took a deep breath and pushed it away, even as his hand still firmly gripped his wand. It really would be so simple to just grab some Muggles, but he couldn't afford to get lost to the sensations, at least, not until his mission was done.
Owl, bath, and then rest.
It was over.
Guilian had taken a room at the Casino, and a few hours later he felt a little more like his old self. Something would never be the same again, but he was there, and in one piece, and ready to sleep for a week.
But he needed to let Lestrange know his mission was complete. He composed a seemingly innocent little note, indicating it was done, and that his last quarry was trying to turn others away from the Lestrange's cause.
The list is complete. The last one was a little flighty, but the bird was caught, and dealt with, as you can see. I have reason to believe it was trying to dissuade others.
Enclosed is the item you requested upon completion.
Wrapping the severed finger carefully, and putting it under a preservation charm, he attached the letter and slightly thicker envelope to the owl's leg, and sent it on its way. He bade it a quick journey, and prayed to Merlin that he wouldn't be getting any 'new' list in a hurry. He was done with all this. Truly, it was the end.
