Summary: Morag owls her support to Dora (and Remus)
Morag started her owl to Remus Lupin half a dozen times, struggling to find the right words but hampered by an inkling that she herself wasn't much better than Umbridge in her prejudices against non-humans. In the end, she wrote to Dora. She knew Dora and cared about her...always better than writing a virtual stranger, in her view. Once the letter was done, it was a simple matter to tack the werewolf's name to the beginning and make it to the both of them, and she'd been able to think only of Dora while writing so she found it easier to express herself.
Once the letter was complete, she started to call her owl but then thought better of it. Instead, she called Katya, asking her if she minded taking the letter to Dora.
Dear Dora, and Remus,
Antonin and I were appalled by the latest dictate handed down from the False Minister, and we wanted to write to offer you our support. The woman has always had quite an extremist idea of blood purity, you know, and is quite irrational about it. We are concerned that, Dora, through your recent marriage, you have aligned yourself with what Umbridge considers the 'enemy', and that she will soon make a move against you either by passing further decrees about families of those she has named in her last dictate or by adding metamorphmagi to her list of dark creatures. Truly, now that I think about it, I'm surprised she hasn't already. You are a known supporter of the Order, and by targeting metamorhpmagi she could also make a case (in her mind) against animagi which would also isolate Minerva. Ooops, sorry, I digress....
Anyway, we offer you residence at our Hogsmeade house. The wards are top line, if I do say so myself, and will protect you physically. Antonin and I have recently established our primary residence on the Morrigan, and Antonin has detailed his primary major domo, Nikita, to watch over Bill and Fleur's family, in case of trouble. We could use a caretaker at the house on Dippett Drive, and that way we could document you both as employees of the Dolohov family.
By the way, Antonin has reminded me that we owe you money. We had offered a reward for the capture or removal of known Death Eaters, and your mother was responsible for several 'bag and tags' at the last battle, as well as for removing Lucius Malfoy from the DE ranks. In lieu of being able to pay her, as her heir, we owe you that reward. Antonin believes it is about two million pounds that we need to get to you.
Now before you say no, think, Dora. It's not charity. We offered the reward well in advance of the battle...it isn't something we came up with to give you money. If we do not pay you this money, it likely puts us in some sort of legal difficulty, in fact, so you are doing us a favor. And frankly, it would be harder for the toad to pick on a target with money than it would one without resources. So consider it your duty to stick it to the toad lady! And we can set our lawyers to figuring out how best to protect it, should she come up with some sort of decree that she thinks will allow her to confiscate it.
And if worst comes to worst, we'll portkey you to Dolohov in Russia. It's a beautiful place, and she can't touch you there.
Let us help you, if not for yourselves, than out of respect for Tibby's memory. Remus, you had to suspect how he felt about Minerva, and it would be easier for me to protect her with your help because she's just going to try to ignore me. And you have to know the toad is going to target her at some point....
Besides, are you going to deny me (and yourselves) the opportunity to thumb our noses at the toad????
