Cass merely nodded, knowing it was true. He had no choice. None what so ever. If he told Percy, they'd know. If he broke up with him, they'd know. He needed Percy away from him, in a way that wouldn't hurt his mother, in a way he couldn't be blamed for (well almost not blamed for). He needed Percy to blame him, to hate him, to not trust him with anything more serious than a weather report. No matter how much the thought of that hurt him.
He clenched his jaws, trying to get rid of the nausea that followed.
'Can I trust that this is supposed to be kept quiet?' he said tersely. 'I don't need the added stress of Higgs and Monty finding these things out.' It was bad enough should Monty find out he wasn't his cousin, but in love with a man? A Weasley? He'd never speak to him again.
Then again, speaking to him seemed to be dangerous. Perhaps it was better if everyone just stayed away from him?
